Volvo Affordable Art Fair
From 4 to 8 February, the 17th edition of Affordable Art Fair Brussels took place at Tour & Taxis, bringing together more than 13,000 visitors and over 85 Belgian and international galleries.
As a partner of the fair, Volvo Benelux presented an immersive installation developed in collaboration with Mathilde Wittock. Known for her regenerative and acoustic design research, Wittock created a sculptural sound environment centred around the Cross Country EX30.
The installation explored the idea of travel through sound. Recordings captured during journeys formed the auditory landscape, while sculptural speakers, made from an innovative root-grown material developed in her studio, translated listening into a spatial experience. The acoustic felt walls surrounding the booth were produced from recycled PET, reinforcing the circular approach of the concept. Sound design was developed by Lazlo Grignard.
Our role focused on the structural integration of the vehicle and artworks within the installation. We provided the technical framework that allowed the artistic concept and automotive presence to coexist seamlessly, ensuring safety, stability and spatial coherence.
The result was an experience that invited visitors to travel without moving. A moment where art, design and engineering converged within the context of a contemporary art fair.
