One Hundred Years of Solitude by Netflix
On 4 December 2024, Netflix presented the first episode of One Hundred Years of Solitude during a special screening at Royal Library of Belgium (KBR) in Brussels.
Directed by Laura Mora and Alex García López, the series is considered one of the most ambitious productions in the history of Latin American television. Around 200 guests gathered in the historic setting of the Royal Library to discover the first chapter of the adaptation of Gabriel García Márquez’s celebrated novel.
The evening was designed as more than a screening. Before entering the auditorium, visitors were invited to explore an exhibition dedicated to the making of the series. Displays showcased original costumes and visual materials, offering insight into the scale and craftsmanship behind the production. In total, nearly 40,000 garments were created to dress a cast of more than 100 characters, illustrating the depth of the world brought to screen.
Following the screening, guests attended a conversation featuring editor Irene Blecua, director Álex García and Hector Feliciano from the Fundación Gabo, offering a deeper look into the creative process behind the series.
We Make You Happy acted as production partner for the event. Our role covered location research, logistical coordination and the creative development of the exhibition, including the design and production of the costume displays.
An evening where literature, cinema and craft came together in one place.
